The King Family | Rainy Day Savannah In-Home Family Session

Rainy days are for staying home — and honestly, that’s where the magic happens.
The King family’s session was everything I love about in-home photos: real laughter, a little chaos, and the easy comfort of being together. Two boys (8 and 6), three dogs, one cat, and parents who were perfectly content to just be.
The Calm Before the Play
The boys started by showing me their Lego area — in the dining room, naturally! They told me all about their builds while we talked about Harry Potter movies!
Their parents tried to chill in the living room, but I could tell they were doing that classic parent thing — half 'relaxed', half listening to make sure their boys were being polite (which, of course, they absolutely were).
It was a great Saturday morning of equal parts chill time, play, and kids being themselves — which is exactly what I want these sessions to feel like.
From Legos to Nerf Swords
That Lego time did exactly what I hoped it would — it gave the boys space to settle in, feel comfortable, and just be themselves.
Once they were in their element, the energy kicked up fast — full-on boyhood joy.
Nerf sword battles turned into what they proudly called “lazy fighting” — rolling, giggling, and collapsing onto the couch in their den.
All the dogs joined the fun and their cat showed up for lazy fighting on the couch and, unlike many cats, was quite content to be part of the story!
The Best Ending
I whispered to the boys to go sneak up and snuggle with Mom where she was lying on the couch, and they did it so softly — gently . . . that made it clear they definitely snuggle with her often, all calm and sweet after all that play.
Dad got his own version of snuggle time: wild, tickly, wrestly “snuggles” that were equal parts affection and chaos.
It was warm, honest,
and a little loud in the best way possible!
